Department of Ophthalmology

The Gloucestershire Retinal Education and Retinal Research Groups are part of the Department of Ophthalmology in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Education Group currently provide two suites of qualifications for staff employed in diabetic eye screening programmes and are working on a number of new qualifications. We also provide the unique 'Test and Training' service which helps to quality assure and support training for readers (graders) of diabetic retinopathy screening images in the UK and beyond. The Retinal Research Group is involved in a number of research activities in diabetic retinopathy (including screening), vein occlusion, AMD and uveitis.

We offer a number of role-specific qualifications for students from the UK and Overseas in Diabetic Retinopathy Screening.
